This is a fun, engaging, creative and non-threatening intervention which is great for students to explore anger management strategies. Sandwich ingredients represent the various strategies to support the student to manage their anger. The following strategies are included: Pop Bubble wrap, blow a feather, pin-wheel or blow bubbles, deep breathing, writing down thoughts, listen to music, tear paper, make silly faces, reading, drawing, stress ball, push against a wall, get some fresh air, have a drink and visualisation. Laminate and use white board markers for students to write their own Anger management strategies to create their own unique anger management sandwich. This is great for a lunch time individual or group therapy intervention.

This framework is based on trauma-informed principles and knowledge. This framework is intentionally designed to teach and to shape the individual’s behaviour within consistent limits using non-blaming, non-shaming and empowering communication. This trauma-informed framework of support also encourages discussing consequences that are clearly connected to the individual’s behaviour, yet also uses words that encourage thinking and the development of insight whilst preserving relational connections and attunement. The strategies included are divided into Ecological, Interactional and Skill Development. This resource provides you with Emotion and Feeling Cards as well as Calming and Coping Strategy Cards to support the implementation of the included strategies. This resource is a great reference guide to support the development of Positive Behaviour Support Plans. Truth Hero | Mini Lesson | Creative Therapy Lesson | Reduce Lying

This is a fun, creative and engaging intervention for students to explore honesty and integrity and reinforce positive behaviours. This intervention is great for students who have difficulty with persistent lying. This intervention helps students to embrace honesty and integrity and project their internal beliefs, fears and values about themselves onto a truth hero that they create. Within this intervention the truth hero is encouraged to play two truths and a lie so that they play intentional truth telling and lying. Reflecting on the positive impact of telling the truth including on building relationships and trust with friends is explored in creative ways. Although this isn’t a directive/skills-based intervention, this mini-lesson has been successful at supporting students who have a history of lying. This therapeutic intervention requires the therapist to be very curious and unconditionally accepting of the truth hero that the student creates and imagines. Remember the vital role of empathy and at the end of the intervention thank the student for sharing what they would look like as a truth hero to support integration. This is a creative and engaging intervention based on Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TFCBT) principles to support students to explore Physical Abuse.
